GOWAN AUTO DRIVES RECRUITMENT AT WORLDSKILLS IRELAND 2023

Gowan Auto, the exclusive importer and distributor of Alfa Romeo, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Honda, Jeep, Opel and Peugeot in the Republic of Ireland will take a stand for the very first time at the forthcoming WorldSkills Ireland event, being held in Dublin’s RDS from September 20th to 22nd. The Gowan Auto stand will be attended by representatives from all nine brands and their Gowan Auto shared services comprising technical, warranty and customer care experts.

The WorldSkills Ireland event sees young people who have completed an apprenticeship, compete live in the national final of the skills competition for their craft. This year’s event will see over 160 finalists compete across 32 live National Skills Finals, each hoping to be in with the chance of representing Ireland in the WorldSkills Internationals, in Lyon 2024.

The event is attended by students, teachers, careers guidance counsellors, and parents who hail from all over Ireland. Many attend to view the live competitions, whilst many more students visit the show looking for ideas, direction, and guidance on the next critical steps as they gear up for post-secondary school education paths.

Darrell Doyle, Training Co-ordination Manager said: “We recognise that the WorldSkills Ireland event is a truly unique opportunity to promote careers both within Gowan Auto and across our 150 retail dealers. Indeed, we have reached out to each of our dealer partners to use the event as a platform to directly promote current vacancies for young people within their companies. Crucially, we have not limited our recruitment drive solely to technical apprenticeships; many dealers will take this opportunity to promote vacancies across a broad spectrum of posts, across all facets of their motor business including Sales, Service, Parts, Warranty, and Finance. Furthermore, we are placing a major emphasis on attracting more women to the business to consider both technical and non-technical roles. It promises to be a very exciting, fulfilling event for us.”

To attract and drive engagement with young visitors, the Gowan Auto stand will host a driving simulator, and delegates can enter a competition to win places on Mondello Park’s Early Drive Electrified by Opel programme, An impressive Honda Civic Type R display is sure to capture attention too.
